Los Angeles Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani will play in Game 3 of the World Series despite suffering a shoulder subluxation in the previous contest, the team announced Monday.

"He was very adamant that he was going to play," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, according to Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times.

The injury occurred during the seventh inning of the Dodgers' 4-2 victory. Ohtani slid awkwardly into second base on a steal attempt and stayed down after being called out.

Ohtani has recorded one hit and a run scored in the World Series.

The Japanese phenom posted a gaudy 1.036 OPS (190 OPS+) during the regular season while slugging 54 home runs and stealing 59 bases.

The Dodgers will look to take a commanding 3-0 series lead when Game 3 gets underway on Monday at 8:08 p.m. ET in New York.
