Freeman played entire postseason with broken rib cartilage
Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman played the entire postseason with broken costal cartilage in his sixth rib, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Freeman also dealt with a much-publicized high right ankle sprain and the continued impact of a fractured middle finger he sustained in August.
"I gave myself to the game, to the field," Freeman told Passan. "I did everything I could to get onto that field. And that's why this is really, really sweet. I'm proud of the fact that I gave everything I could to this team, and I left it all out there."
The 35-year-old battled through the injuries to win World Series MVP in the Dodgers' victory over the New York Yankees.
Freeman tied the World Series record with 12 RBIs and hit home runs in each of the first four games of the series, including a dramatic walk-off grand slam in Game 1.
