Report: Dodgers, Red Sox met with Snell
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Boston Red Sox recently met with free-agent pitcher Blake Snell, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
It's possible the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays have also met with Snell, or at least intend to, Rosenthal adds.
Snell is the only top free-agent pitcher, including Corbin Burnes and Max Fried, who isn't tied to draft-pick compensation. He'll turn 32 on Dec. 4.
The southpaw followed up his Cy Young-winning campaign with another strong season in 2024, recording a 3.12 ERA and 1.05 WHIP over 104 innings. Although Snell started slow, he didn't sign his contract with the San Francisco Giants until March.
Snell would immediately become Boston's best - and only left-handed - starter. He also has extensive experience pitching in the AL East.
Snell joining the Dodgers would represent a reunion with president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman, who drafted Snell in 2011 when he ran the Tampa Bay Rays.
Snell's 11.2 K/9 is the highest among all active pitchers.
