The Boston Red Sox and free-agent left-hander Aroldis Chapman agreed to a one-year contract worth $10.75 million, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

Chapman spent the 2024 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, posting a 5-5 record, 14 saves, a 3.79 ERA, and 98 strikeouts across 61 2/3 innings.

The 36-year-old will give Red Sox manager Alex Cora another proven option at the back of the bullpen alongside Liam Hendriks and Justin Slaten.

Red Sox relievers finished 24th in the league in ERA and 20th in strikeouts last season.

Chapman has racked up 335 saves with a 2.63 ERA and 14.8 K/9 across 15 MLB seasons with the Pirates, Texas Rangers, Kansas City Royals, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, and Cincinnati Reds.
