Rockies owner responds to email about Soto: 'He wants to stay on East Coast'
Colorado Rockies owner Dick Monfort responded to an email from a fan asking if there was any chance the team might look at signing star free agent Juan Soto.
"He has said publicly he wants to stay on East Coast," Monfort responded.
I can confirm that the Colorado Rockies are indeed OUT in regards to the Juan Soto chase, but not for the reasons you'd expect pic.twitter.com/LdMzGTJV4c

The Rockies had the 17th-highest payroll in 2024 at just over $146 million. Monfort signed Kris Bryant to a seven-year, $182-million contract in 2022, the largest free-agent deal in franchise history. Nolan Arenado's seven-year, $234-million contract extension signed in 2019 is the largest contract in Rockies history.
The New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly among the teams to meet with and offer Soto a contract in excess of $600 million.
