A two-horse race may be taking shape for Teoscar Hernández.

The free-agent outfielder would reportedly prefer to re-sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers, but he's long been intrigued by playing at Fenway Park with the Boston Red Sox under manager Alex Cora, sources told The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham.

The Red Sox intend to pursue Hernández if they miss out on Juan Soto, preferring him over fellow free agent Anthony Santander, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.

The Toronto Blue Jays are also in the mix for Hernández but would prefer to sign Santander if they miss out on Soto, Feinsand adds.

Hernández, 32, is coming off an impressive debut season with the Dodgers that ended in a World Series title. He belted a career-high 33 home runs with 99 RBIs en route to his first All-Star appearance since 2021.

The slugger, who spent six seasons with the Blue Jays, has thrived when visiting Fenway Park: He has 48 hits, 14 home runs, and 44 RBIs in 44 career road games against the Red Sox.

Hernández owns a .808 OPS (121 OPS+) for his nine-year career.
