The New York Mets signed right-hander Griffin Canning to a one-year deal, the club announced Thursday.
The pact is worth $4.25 million and includes $1 million in potential bonuses, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.
Canning became a free agent after being non-tendered by the Atlanta Braves earlier this offseason. Atlanta acquired him from the Los Angeles Angels in a trade for outfielder Jorge Soler.
The 28-year-old pitched to a 5.19 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 171 2/3 innings with the Angels in 2024. He allowed an MLB-high 99 earned runs.
Canning owns a 4.78 ERA (92 ERA+) over his five-year career.
