Athletics president Kaval resigns after 8 years
Athletics president Dave Kaval announced his resignation after eight years, the team announced Friday.
Kaval is leaving to pursue other business opportunities in Northern California with the Athletics set to move to Las Vegas in time for the 2028 season.
"I will be staying in California to explore new opportunities at the crossroads of business and government," Kaval said. "I am grateful to A’s ownership for the opportunities they have given me."
A's executive Sandy Dean will take over on an interim basis with the search for a full-time replacement expected to begin in 2025.
"We are grateful for Dave’s contributions and leadership over the past eight years," A’s owner John Fisher said in a statement. "He guided our organization through a period of significant transition, and we sincerely thank him for his unwavering commitment to the team.
"As we look ahead to the next chapter of our franchise, the team will continue to grow under new leadership, driving the organization toward success during our interim years in West Sacramento and at our new home in Las Vegas."
The Athletics will play the next three seasons at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento as the franchise awaits the completion of its new stadium in Las Vegas.
