Report: Astros, Miguel Castro agree to minor-league deal
The Houston Astros agreed to a minor-league deal with right-hander Miguel Castro, a source told KPRC 2 Houston's Ari Alexander.
Castro reportedly received an invitation to big-league spring training and could earn $1.5 million, plus performance bonuses, if he pitches in the majors.
Castro spent the last two campaigns with the Arizona Diamondbacks, authoring a 4.60 ERA and 7.8 K/9 in 86 appearances.
The 30-year-old reliever only appeared in 11 games last season after missing most of the campaign with shoulder inflammation. He was released by the D-Backs in August.
Castro joins the seventh team of his 10-year career, during which he's struck out 410 in 460 2/3 innings. He'll help fortify an Astros bullpen that's been a strength in recent seasons.
