Orioles sign Morton to 1-year contract reportedly worth $15M
The Baltimore Orioles agreed to a one-year contract with veteran right-hander Charlie Morton, the club announced Friday.
Morton will make $15 million in 2025, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand.
Morton spent the 2024 campaign with the Atlanta Braves, posting an 8-10 record with a 4.19 ERA, 4.46 FIP, and 167 strikeouts across 165 1/3 innings.
The 41-year-old will join an Orioles rotation that also features Grayson Rodriguez, Zach Eflin, Dean Kremer, and offseason acquisition Tomoyuki Sugano.
The Orioles will have to replace ace Corbin Burnes' production in 2025 after the star right-hander signed a six-year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Morton finished the 2024 season as the second-oldest player in baseball behind three-time Cy Young winner Justin Verlander. He owns a lifetime 138-123 record with a 4.01 ERA in 383 appearances (382 starts).
