Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani announced a $500,000 donation to benefit firefighters, people who have been evacuated from their homes, and animals in need of shelter as a result of the wildfires in L.A.
Ohtani's teammate Freddie Freeman and his wife Chelsea previously donated $100,000 apiece to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the Pasadena Fire Department, and the Salvation Army.
The Dodgers were among a group of Los Angeles-based sports teams that pledged to donate $8 million to relief efforts.
