Report: Angels, Davis agree to minor-league contract

The Los Angeles Angels signed utility man J.D. Davis to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training, sources told Robert Murray of FanSided.

Davis struggled in 46 games split between the Athletics and New York Yankees in 2024. He hit just .218/.293/.338 with four home runs and six RBIs.

The 31-year-old was more productive with the San Francisco Giants in 2023, putting up a .738 OPS (104+) across a career-high 144 games.

Davis has experience playing third base, first base, and left field. If he makes the team out of spring training, he could provide a versatile bench bat for the Angels.

Davis has also played for the New York Mets and the Houston Astros as part of an eight-year MLB career.
