"Getting your number retired, and now they're going to put a statue up. It's crazy that they're going to do this for me," Buehrle said of receiving the honor.
Buehrle spent 12 of his 15 big-league seasons with the White Sox. He accumulated 161 of his 214 career wins in Chicago, where he authored a 3.83 ERA in 2,476 2/3 innings.
The southpaw threw a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers on April 18, 2007, and was responsible for pitching the 18th perfect game in baseball history against the Tampa Bay Rays on July 23, 2009.
Buehrle was a five-time All-Star, four-time Gold Glove winner, and 2005 World Series champion.
