Yankees reward Boone with 2-year extension through 2027

The New York Yankees signed manager Aaron Boone to a two-year contract extension through the 2027 season, the club announced Thursday.

His previous contract was set to expire after 2025.

Boone led New York to its first World Series since 2009 last year. The team ultimately lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

The Yankees have thrived under his leadership the past seven seasons: They've gone a combined 603-429 while winning three AL East titles and making the playoffs every year except 2023.

The 51-year-old has made headlines throughout his managerial career for having a short fuse with umpires. He's been ejected 39 times since becoming the skipper in 2018.

Boone played 54 games for the Yankees in 2003 and famously hit a walk-off home run in Game 7 of the ALCS.
