The Seattle Mariners signed first baseman Rowdy Tellez to a minor-league deal with an invitation to big-league spring training, they announced Friday.

The 29-year-old slugger hit .243/.299/.392 with 13 home runs and 56 RBIs in 131 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates last season.

Tellez can provide the Mariners with an additional power source if he makes the team out of spring camp.

The California native has hit 105 homers and posted a .172 isolated power throughout his seven-year career. Ninety of his homers have come against right-handed pitchers.

Seattle also has another left-handed-hitting first baseman, Luke Raley, on its 40-man roster. Raley also plays the outfield.

Tellez's best campaign came with the Milwaukee Brewers in 2022 when he hit 35 homers and posted a .767 OPS.

The Mariners' offseason has been a slow one. Their biggest acquisitions include Tellez, Donovan Solano, and a reunion with Jorge Polanco.
