Joey Gallo's career appears to be moving in a different direction.

The two-time All-Star teased a transition to pitching after he was granted his release by the Chicago White Sox on Sunday.

Gallo, who spent most of his 10-year career in the majors as an outfielder, posted a highlight reel on Instagram that shows him throwing in a bullpen near the end of the video.

"He had expressed interest through his agent if it didn't work out on the major-league team that he was going to explore the pitching side," White Sox assistant general manager Josh Barfield told MLB.com's Scott Merkin.

"I know it's something he's been dabbling around with in between some of the reps here."

Barfield added that Gallo likely wouldn't pitch for the White Sox.

"Where we are right now, it's tough to give him that opportunity," Barfield said.

The two-time Gold Glove winner's arm strength ranked in the 99th percentile as recently as 2021. He also has 43 career outfield assists.

Gallo was 2-for-20 with 11 strikeouts during spring training with the White Sox before getting released.

The 31-year-old owns a lifetime batting average of .194 with 1,292 strikeouts in 939 games, although his OPS is a respectable .775 due to his home-run prowess.
