The Cincinnati Reds traded outfielder Stuart Fairchild to the Atlanta Braves for cash considerations, the teams announced Monday.
Fairchild was designated for assignment March 26 after hitting .132/.233/.184 with 13 strikeouts in 21 games during spring training.
The 29-year-old owns a .224/.308/.389 slash line with 18 home runs and 66 RBIs in 249 career games across four seasons. He ranked in the 92nd percentile in sprint speed and 86th percentile in range last season, according to Baseball Savant.
Atlanta transferred right-hander Joe Jiménez to the 60-day injured list to make room for Fairchild on the 40-man roster.
