Dodgers' Freeman day-to-day after tweaking ankle entering shower
Los Angeles Dodgers star Freddie Freeman is day-to-day after tweaking his surgically-repaired ankle entering the shower, manager Dave Roberts said Monday, according to The Athletic's Fabian Ardaya.
Roberts added that Freeman is out of the lineup for Monday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves due to the "mishap."
Freeman underwent offseason surgery after sustaining a severe ankle sprain at the end of the 2024 campaign. The 35-year-old played through the injury in the playoffs, helping the Dodgers win the World Series.
"He feels he could go out there and play, but just let him kind of recoup today, and we'll see how he is tomorrow," Roberts said, according to The Associated Press. "For the most part, he's always kicking and screaming (to play)."
Enrique Hernández is patrolling first base and batting eighth in the lineup in Freeman's absence.
Freeman is hitting .250 with an .833 OPS, two home runs, and four RBIs across 12 at-bats this season.
