Dodgers place Freeman on IL with ankle injury after shower slip
The Los Angeles Dodgers placed star first baseman Freddie Freeman on the 10-day injured list with an ankle injury, the club announced Thursday.
The move is retroactive to March 31, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.
Freeman injured his ankle earlier this week when he slipped in the shower. He sprained the same ankle late last year and needed surgery in the offseason.
The 35-year-old hit a two-run home run and a double in his last appearance on March 29 against the Detroit Tigers.
Los Angeles has kept up its winning ways even without the reigning World Series MVP in its lineup, becoming the first defending champions in MLB history to begin the season with an 8-0 record.
Freeman owns a 1.083 OPS through 12 plate appearances in 2025.
