White Sox lose on play at plate when Tauchman injures hamstring
The Chicago White Sox were a few feet away from a tie game. Instead, they lost a heartbreaker to the Cleveland Guardians - and possibly their right fielder, too.
Chicago trailed 3-1 with two out and two on in the ninth inning when Miguel Vargas laced what appeared to be a game-tying single off Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase. Jacob Amaya scored easily on the play, and Mike Tauchman rounded third behind him. But Tauchman pulled up lame halfway down the line, allowing Guardians catcher Austin Hedges to apply an uncontested tag to secure a 3-2 Cleveland win.

A clearly frustrated Tauchman was able to pick himself up and walk off the field. The White Sox placed him on the injured list Thursday with a right hamstring strain.
Tauchman opened his season on the injured list because of a hamstring strain he suffered during spring training. He was just reinstated from the IL on Sunday.
The White Sox fell to 2-9 on the young season despite out-hitting Cleveland 8-3. Tauchman contributed three hits in the loss, including a single in the ill-fated top of the ninth.
