The Los Angeles Dodgers activated star first baseman Freddie Freeman from the injured list, the team announced Friday.

Freeman is batting fourth and playing at first against the Chicago Cubs.

The 35-year-old landed on the injured list in early April with an ankle injury after slipping in the shower. The ankle he hurt was the same one he had surgically repaired during the offseason.

Freeman had an MRI exam on his ankle that only showed scar tissue fraying, according to ESPN's Alden González.

The eight-time All-Star was off to a hot start at the plate before being sidelined, having hit two home runs with a 1.083 OPS through 12 plate appearances.

He owns a career .899 OPS (142 OPS+) through 16 seasons.
