Mets' Siri fractures tibia, will be placed on IL
New York Mets outfielder Jose Siri was diagnosed with a fractured tibia, manager Carlos Mendoza announced Monday.
Siri will be placed on the injured list before Tuesday's game.
"The MRI showed a fracture. We gotta get more information before we know how long he's going to be out, but he's gonna be out for a while," Mendoza said following his team's 5-1 win over the Minnesota Twins, per SNY.
Siri suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his left leg during the second inning of Saturday's game against the Athletics. He limped off the field and was unable to complete the at-bat.

Initial X-rays returned negative, but when his symptoms continued, the Mets sent him for further tests that revealed the injury.
"With how much pain he was going through, and watching him walk, he could barely (walk). ... That's why we sent him for a MRI and CT scan today," Mendoza said.
Although no timetable was provided, Siri is hopeful that it won't be a long IL stint.
"It's obviously disappointing whenever something like that happens, but at the same time we're not gonna get too ahead of ourselves," the 29-year-old said through a translator. "(We're) probably gonna re-evaluate (the injury) within the next week to see how it is. Everybody's different.
"I'm a quick healer, so hopefully something good can come out of it."
Siri has struggled at the plate to start this season, hitting .050/.208/.100 with one RBI, four walks, eight strikeouts, and two stolen bases over 10 games.
New York acquired Siri from the Tampa Bay Rays for reliever Eric Orze this past November.
