Twins acquire Bride from Marlins for cash
The Minnesota Twins acquired infielder Jonah Bride from the Miami Marlins for cash considerations, the clubs announced Wednesday.
The Marlins designated Bride for assignment earlier this week after he had four hits in 40 at-bats with a pair of RBIs to start the season.
Bride has made appearances at first, second, and third base during his career. The 29-year-old registered a 120 OPS+ with 11 home runs, 10 doubles, and 39 RBIs in 71 games for the Marlins last season.
Bride will give the Twins another bat as the club navigates injuries to Matt Wallner, and Willi Castro.
The Twins placed Wallner on the injured list with a hamstring injury, while Carlos Correa did not start Wednesday's win over the New York Mets because of a sore left wrist. Castro, meanwhile, exited Wednesday's game in the eighth inning with tightness in his right oblique.
