Red Sox activate Hendriks, who hasn't pitched since 2023
The Boston Red Sox activated right-hander Liam Hendriks from the 15-day injured list, the team announced Saturday.
Hendriks hasn't pitched since June 2023 and has never appeared in a regular-season game for the Red Sox.
The 36-year-old was solid during his latest rehab stint, throwing three scoreless innings and striking out five after he struggled to a 9.95 ERA in spring training.
The three-time All-Star and two-time reliever of the year signed a two-year, $10-million contract with the Red Sox in February 2024 while rehabbing from Tommy John surgery.
His TJ recovery followed a battle with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that caused him to miss several months in 2023. Hendriks announced in April of that year he was cancer free.
The Red Sox optioned right-hander Hunter Dobbins to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
