Angels placing Trout on IL with bone bruise in knee
The Los Angeles Angels are placing star outfielder Mike Trout on the 10-day injured list with a bone bruise in his left knee, manager Ron Washington announced following the team's 10-4 loss to the Detroit Tigers, according to Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com.
Washington added that the bruise isn't a significant injury. However, he didn't provide a timetable for Trout's return.
Trout didn't play Thursday after leaving Wednesday's game with knee soreness, which began when he tried beating out a ground ball earlier in the contest.
Trout played only 29 games last season after twice tearing the meniscus in his left knee. He's battled an array of injuries over recent years and hasn't appeared in more than 130 contests in a campaign since 2019.
The three-time AL MVP is hitting .179/.264/.462 with nine homers and 18 RBIs through 29 games this season.
