Mets' Minter to undergo season-ending lat surgery
New York Mets left-hander A.J. Minter will have season-ending surgery next Monday for a torn lat muscle, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma.
Minter was removed from the Mets' April 26 contest against the Washington Nationals and placed on the 15-day injured list with a left lat strain.
New York moved him to the 60-day IL a week later with what his manager, Carlos Mendoza, called a "pretty significant" lat injury.
The 31-year-old reliever performed well for the Mets through 13 games, authoring a 1.64 ERA and 11.5 K/9 in 11 innings after signing a two-year deal during the offseason.
Mets designated hitter Jesse Winker will also be sidelined for six-to-eight weeks with a Grade 2 oblique strain, according to Puma.
Winker was placed on the IL on Monday.
