Yankees' Domínguez: Will remember 3-HR game for 'rest of my life'
New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Domínguez was elated after becoming the youngest player in franchise history to hit three home runs in a game during Friday night's win.
"I'm not gonna lie, when I hit the third one, I was just saying, 'No way, there's no way,' but it was awesome," Domínguez said after the 10-2 victory over the Athletics, per YES Network. "We have a really good clubhouse, and all my teammates were so happy for me."
He added: "A three-homer game, I'll remember that for the rest of my life."
The 22-year-old, nicknamed "The Martian," took Athletics starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido deep in the third inning for his first home run. He got his second in the seventh off reliever Hogan Harris.
The third and final blast off Elvis Alvarado - an emphatic grand slam - broke the game open in the top of the ninth inning.
"That was incredible," teammate Aaron Judge said of the three-homer performance, according to ESPN.
"Just even going back to spring training, the guy goes out there, wins a job. The work I saw him put in on the back field when no one was really looking on the defensive side, the work in the cage. To see him have a game like this tonight, three homers, is pretty special."
Domínguez and Judge are two of only three Yankees to hit a grand slam as part of a three-homer game, per ESPN. Judge accomplished the feat on March 29 against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Domínguez, a former top prospect, is hitting .250/.339/.463 with five home runs and 19 RBIs after the breakout performance.
The Bronx Bombers lead MLB with 66 home runs.
