Red Sox reveal Green Monster-themed City Connect uniforms

The Boston Red Sox unveiled their latest edition of the City Connect uniforms Friday, honoring an important part of their legendary ballpark with a Green Monster-themed color scheme.

"This iteration of City Connects has been two plus years in the making, for sure, maybe for even longer than that," Red Sox chief marketing and partnership officer Troup Parkinson said, according to MLB.com's Ian Browne.

"I think we've been intrigued by the idea of somehow making Fenway the star of a jersey."

The jerseys feature the green color used on Fenway Park's outfield wall, while the font on the front of the uniform matches the one on the ballpark's scoreboard.

Additionally, the jerseys feature numbers on the front and back, and the shirt collars are the same grey as the concrete inside the Green Monster.

Manager Alex Cora and Red Sox players approved of the Green Monster-themed uniforms ahead of wearing them in Friday's series opener against the Braves, Parkinson reports.

The new uniforms replace the previous yellow and blue version of Boston's City Connect kits, which drew inspiration from the Boston Marathon.

However, the popular yellow and blue uniforms will remain in the Red Sox rotation as an alternate.
