Tigers president: No 'untouchable players' amid Skubal rumors

The Detroit Tigers president of baseball operations Scott Harris is willing to move any player, and that may even include two-time reigning AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal.

"I don't believe in untouchable players at any level," Harris told MLB Network on Monday. "It's not a commentary on Tarik, it's more of a blanket approach to building a winning organization.

"My job is to make this organization better ... which means that I need to listen to every opportunity no matter how likely or unlikely it is to actually happen."

Skubal's name has appeared in offseason trade rumors despite the 29-year-old being arguably the best pitcher in baseball and helping lead the Tigers to playoff appearances in consecutive seasons.

The southpaw is expected to earn the richest pitcher contract in baseball history when he becomes a free agent after the 2026 campaign, which could put him out of the Tigers' price range.

Skubal has made it clear he doesn't want to be traded and would like to start the season with Detroit, even though his camp and the Tigers haven't been able to agree on a contract extension.

The two-time All-Star reportedly rejected a four-year extension worth less than $100 million in 2024.
