The market for free-agent shortstop Bo Bichette is starting to grow.

The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Chicago Cubs have checked in with the 27-year-old, according to Jon Heyman of the New York Post.

Bichette is one of the top available free agents after a terrific 2025 campaign with the Toronto Blue Jays. He posted an .840 OPS and finished second in the American League in hits despite missing time at the end of the regular season due to a knee injury.

New York could replace Anthony Volpe at shortstop or play Bichette at second base if they find a trade partner for Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the offseason. The Yankees are fielding inquiries on Chisholm, according to Heyman.

The Cubs, like the Yankees, are open to offers for starting second baseman Nico Hoerner, Heyman adds.

Bichette, who is reportedly letting teams know he's willing to play second base, could slot in there if Hoerner is traded. Chicago already has an elite defender at shortstop in Dansby Swanson.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers are projected to start Hyeseong Kim at second to begin the 2026 campaign. Bichette would be a clear upgrade at the plate over the soft-hitting Kim. He could also provide the reigning champions with another shortstop option, allowing Mookie Betts to play the outfield more often. All six of Betts' Gold Gloves have been won as an outfielder.

Bichette, who has said he wants to return to the Blue Jays, has also been connected to the Boston Red Sox and reportedly met with them in early December.
