Twins trade Julien, Ohl to Rockies for minor leaguer
The Minnesota Twins traded infielder Edouard Julien and right-hander Pierson Ohl to the Colorado Rockies for minor-league pitcher Jace Kaminska, the teams announced Wednesday.
The Twins will also receive cash in the deal, according to The Athletic's Dan Hayes.
Julien's numbers have declined the past two seasons after an impressive debut campaign in 2023. He finished seventh in AL Rookie of the Year voting thanks to 16 home runs and an .839 OPS. Last season, the 26-year-old Canadian slashed .220/.309/.324 with 12 RBIs in 64 games.
Julien should provide some defensive versatility for the Rockies, as he's capable of playing both first and second base.
The 26-year-old Ohl was designated for assignment last week to create space on the Twins' 40-man roster after they signed Taylor Rogers and Victor Caratini. He appeared in 14 games last season, authoring a 5.10 ERA and 4.20 FIP in 30 innings.
Kaminska, 24, was selected in the 10th round of the 2023 draft. He posted a 2.78 ERA and 10.7 K/9 in 87 1/3 innings at Single-A Fresno in 2024 and then missed the 2025 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
