Report: Anthopoulos willing to bring in catching coach to help C Arencibia
While the Toronto Blue Jays get in line in hopes of grabbing some free agent catching help, general manager Alex Anthopoulos may be willing to ride with J.P. Arencibia again if they fail to sign or trade for a replacement.
The Toronto Sun reported that the Blue Jays would be willing to bring in a full-time catching coach to try and resurrect Arencibia's career after a miserable 2013.
“Obviously we want to improve our production there, though I think clearly J.P. has the ability to get back to the player he was in 2011 and 2012,” Anthopoulos said.
The 27-year-old had the worst average, on base and slugging percentage of any catcher who had over 474 at bats last season.
