Houston Astros third baseman Carlos Correa isn't pinning his team's eight-game losing streak on the fact that several key players are sidelined.

"I don't want to attach our failures to just injuries," Correa said after Monday's 6-2 loss to the Seattle Mariners. "Our failures are because we're playing shitty baseball."

Houston began the season by winning five of its first seven home games before stumbling on a disastrous road trip, managing just one win in 10 contests against the Athletics, Colorado Rockies, and Mariners.

However, the Astros' injured list has grown exponentially since Opening Day, with 12 players landing on it.

POS. PLAYER INJURY
SS Jeremy Peña Strained hamstring
IF/OF Zach Dezenzo Sprained elbow
OF Jake Meyers Strained oblique
SP Ronel Blanco Tommy John
SP Hunter Brown Strained shoulder
SP Tatsuya Imai Arm fatigue
SP Cristian Javier Strained shoulder
SP Brandon Walter Tommy John
SP Hayden Wesneski Tommy John
RP Josh Hader Biceps tendinitis
RP Nate Pearson Elbow discomfort
RP Bennett Sousa Strained oblique

Correa added that he doesn't think using injuries as an excuse will help the team get out of its funk, insisting that the only way to right the ship is to perform better.

"There's no way around it. There's no excuse. We're a good club playing bad baseball," Correa said.

"We have to go home and regroup, make adjustments, and play better."

The Astros will play their next six games at home, starting Tuesday against the Rockies.
