Cleveland Guardians left-hander Parker Messick lost his no-hitter in the ninth inning of Thursday's 4-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

Leody Taveras singled to open the ninth. Blaze Alexander followed with another single to chase Messick from the game. Taveras and Alexander both came around to score after Messick was replaced by Cade Smith.

The 25-year-old Messick exited his 112-pitch outing with two earned runs allowed, nine strikeouts, and two walks. It was his 11th career start.

"That was very special, what we got to watch tonight," Guardians manager Stephen Vogt said. "That's an unbelievably talented lineup that he took a no-hitter into the ninth against. That was a beautiful, beautiful game."

Len Barker has the last no-hitter for Cleveland, which came in 1981 when he tossed a perfect game.
