The Houston Astros are returning to the postseason after winning their eighth AL West title since 2017.
"It's been a roller coaster of a season, but just to be here and know that the division is back in Houston, that the crown is back. It's a good feeling," manager Joe Espada said after the Astros clinched the division title, according to Adam Camarena of The Associated Press.

Houston recovered to win the AL West after beginning May in last place with a 12-21 record.
"Any other team would have folded, but these guys chose not to," Espada said. "It's about character and this team don't quit, they fight."
The 81-81 Astros are the first-ever division champions to finish a season without a winning record.
Yordan Alvarez anchored the Astros' lineup during an MVP-caliber campaign that included 42 home runs, 106 RBIs, and his first batting title. Espada rewarded Alvarez's efforts with a WWE championship belt following Sunday's win over the Athletics.

Houston returns to the postseason despite parting ways with general manager Dana Brown at the end of August.
The Texas Rangers, meanwhile, failed to reach the postseason for the third consecutive season after winning the World Series in 2023.
Houston will host the Chicago White Sox in the AL wild-card series. Game 1 is scheduled for Tuesday at 5 p.m. ET.
