Happy Birthday, Ty Cobb

Happy 127th birthday, Tyrus Raymond Cobb.

Affectionately known as the Georgia Peach, Cobb's gentle moniker belied one of baseball's greatest villains and fiercest competitors, whose career .367 batting average, the greatest in history, is just as impressive as his willingness to launch into the grandstands to fight an obnoxious fan.

Cobb, a Hall-of-Famer whose name speckles myriad all-time records, played 24 glorious seasons in the major leagues, collecting more hits than anyone in history not named Pete Rose.
