PHOTO: CC Sabathia might be on the 2014 Pablo Sandoval weight-loss program
After the 2013 season, there were questions about CC Sabathia's weight loss in relation to his un-Sabathia-like year with the Yankees. Did his roughly 45-pound drop between 2011 and 2012 play into the highest home-run rate of his career? Or the increase in hits to the innings he pitched?
New York's big man was at Rickie Weeks' wedding over the weekend, and the 6-foot-7 hurler is looking especially slim in several Instagram posts from his wife, Amber.
There's even an appearance from a much-shorter (though still husky) Price Fielder in one photo. It's a shocking highlight of Sabathia's slimmed-down figure. Fielder is listed at 5-foot-11 and 275 pounds.
“He’s been on a pretty rigid program for the winter to build the core, where the weight loss — if he did lose muscle mass — he’ll get it back,” Yankees pitching coach Larry Rothschild told the New York Post this week.
“I think you look at everything, and until I see differently, I think he can be an ace again because of his personality and makeup.”
