Babe Ruth memorabilia always fetches a pretty penny, but one home-run ball stood out over all the rest at a Grey Flannel Auction on Thursday night.
Ruth signed a ball in 1926 for an ailing 11-year-old boy with a promise to hit a home run in his honor and it sold for a whopping $250,641 to an anonymous buyer.
Ruth inscribed "I'll knock a homer for Wednesday's game" on the ball for Johnny Sylvester, who was injured when he was bucked from a horse.
Ruth held up his end of the bargain in a big way, belting three homers in the game, which proved to be the difference in Game 4 of the 1926 World Series.
