The Cincinnati Reds lifted their ban on facial hair, in place since 1967, on this day in 1999, but it's back. Well, sort of:
Forget "Duck Dynasty," this is the Boston Red Sox's fault. They didn't just grow beards on the way to another World Series championship, they were their beards. All the tugging, and pulling, and touching ... let's be honest: it got a little weird.
But, hey, you can't argue with the results. Well, unless you're the Reds.
The good news: Mr. Redlegs' mustache isn't going anywhere.
The facial hair rules aren't meant to be hard on the players, Ramsey, the Reds' assistant director of media relations, added. It's about the Reds becoming a "more team-first club."
Twitter followers: they're the worst.
