It's finally over: David Wright is the Face of MLB
After months of "intense" campaigning, David Wright has been named the Face of MLB after edging out Oakland Athletics infielder Eric Sogard in a tight race.
It’s official: #Mets’ Wright is #FaceOfMLB. Narrow victory over #Athletics’ Sogard, 51 pct. to 49. Contest was a blast. @MLBNetwork.

There's no word yet on how Sogard is handling the devastating news, but early reports suggest he is not considering any drastic measures as a result of the defeat.
No truth to rumor that Sogard has switched agents from Octagon to Scott Boras, and that Boras is citing “irregularities” in #FaceOfMLB vote.

Sogard, likely content with being named a finalist in the competition, beat out the likes of Troy Tulowitzki, Buster Posey and Jose Bautista while Wright took care of Clayton Kershaw and Miguel Cabrera on his way to victory.
Joey Votto, last year's winner, lost to Felix Hernandez in the quarter-finals.
The followers of Jose Bautista, however, should be considered the biggest winners now that they won't be exposed to the hundreds of retweets he sent out on a daily basis as he tried a little too hard to win this one.
