Tampa Bay manager Joe Maddon took on an extra duty Saturday. The skip brought enough ingredients to craft his family's 'Third Base Hoagie' for the entire Rays staff.
According to MLB.com, Maddon's 80-year-old mother Beanie came up with the recipe. She still waits tables at the Third Base Dugout restaurant in Hazleton, Pa.
"The key is the bread," Maddon said. "And the peppers."
The recipe calls for hoagie rolls with olive oil and chopped red peppers. Inside, the sandwich needs ham, salami, white American cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion and a bit of salt and pepper.

Maddon enlisted the clubhouse attendants to help him make 60 hoagies.
