Report: A-Rod being investigated for obstruction, as Biogenesis scandal drags on
The Florida federal grand jury looking into Anthony Bosch's Biogenesis clinic has issued a subpoena to Major League Baseball for drug-testing records and other documents, and may be turning into an obstruction of justice investigation, reports the New York Daily News.
While the aim of the grand jury investigation is apparently still focused on determining the source of the drugs Bosch supplied to MLB players, the Daily News adds that "other law-enforcement officials are trying to determine if [Alex] Rodriguez...attempted to obstruct investigations into the defunct Coral Gables anti-aging clinic."
Rodriguez has already been accused by MLB of threatening witnesses, Bosch included, and of buying documents to keep them out of the hands of MLB officials. He is currently serving a 162-game suspension for his role in Biogenesis, by far the longest the league has ever issued for a drug-related offense.
