Jose Veras: Out As Closer

Cubs manager Rick Renteria has removed Veras as the team's closer, according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Analysis:

No replacement closer has been named by the team, but Pedro Strop should get the first chance at a save the next time an opportunity is available. Hector Rondon could also be an option for the Cubs in the ninth-inning role in the near future.
