GIF: Yasiel Puig called out on questionable call at first
Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig had himself a day Thursday, tying a career high with four hits in the first of a day-night doubleheader against the Twins and collecting two more hits in Game 2.
Puig was also on the receiving end of a questionable call at first base that sparked internet rage over the interpretation of a baserunning rule.
In his first at-bat of the second game, Puig beat out an infield single only to be called out after appearing to turn towards second base.

Whether Puig was in error is certainly up for debate. Puig never fully commits to turn towards second base nor does it appear he crossed into fair territory.
Rule 7.08 (j) of the official rules states the runner can be tagged out if:
He fails to return at once to first base after overrunning or oversliding that base. If he attempts to run to second he is out when tagged. If, after overrunning or oversliding first base he starts toward the dugout, or toward his position, and fails to return to first base at once, he is out, on appeal, when he or the base is tagged.
For what it's worth, ESPN's Keith Law disagreed with the call.
Or turn to second base ... which he also doesn't do. “@AnswerDave: Doesn't Puig have to cross the white line?”
