Mike Morse: Will Be First Baseman While Belt Is Out

Morse will be the regular first baseman while Brandon Belt (thumb) is on the DL, according to manager Bruce Bochy, CSN Bay Area's Andrew Baggarly reports.

Analysis:

While Morse's time manning first base won't begin Saturday, he should assume those duties starting Sunday, with Tyler Colvin and Gregor Blanco splitting time in left field. Morse has eight home runs and 24 RBI, while slugging .552 in 126 plate appearances this season, so he certainly has the power for the position. With Belt expected to miss six weeks, Morse should soon gain first base eligibility in all formats.
