Athletics manager: Sean Doolittle to become closer

Oakland Athletics manager Bob Melvin confirmed left-handed pitcher Sean Doolittle as having the closer's role on Tuesday night. "The way things are setting up, he'll be in the closer role," Melvin told Susan Slusser.

Doolittle told reporters, "It's pretty cool, I guess." He has appeared in 20 games for the Athletics for a 3.43 ERA and 21 innings pitched.
