Overview

Kolek has one of the most electric arms in this draft, and certainly the fastest. The 6-foot-5 right-hander is a prototypical Texan fireballer: big, strong and has the ability to throw triple digits. He showed great command of his pitches in the Texas prep circuit this season, registering 126 strikeouts to eight walks, but scouts have expressed concern in his ability to locate at the major league level. Kolek's secondary arsenal includes a sweeping curveball and slider.

Scouts project the TCU recruit as a potential front-of-the-rotation arm with a major league-ready frame. Baseball runs in the family as his brother Stephen, another right-hander pitcher, is a possible early-round pick in next year’s draft.
