Braves' Venters elbow soreness likely caused by breaking up scar tissue

Atlanta Braves reliever Jonny Venters' recent bout with elbow soreness was likely caused by the breaking up of scar tissue, according to doctors.
“It’s solid,” Venters told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution of his healing elbow. “Doc cranked on it and said it’s stable. Everything is good. Just part of the process.”
This is good news for Venters, who hasn't pitched in the big leagues since 2012, as the soreness doesn't seem to be caused by any structural damage. Scar tissue breakup is a common issue with pitchers recovering from Tommy John surgery (Venters has gone under the knife twice).
The 29-year-old former All-Star is sporting a 2.23 ERA and a 1.241 WHIP over 229 1/3 innings during his three-year career.
