Rays place Wil Myers on 15-day DL with wrist injury

The result of a botched catch by Wil Myers and Desmond Jennings during Friday's walk-off win for the Boston Red Sox cost the Tampa Bay Rays more than just another loss in the standings.

Jennings and Myers collided as the pair attempted to get a glove on A.J. Pierzynski's triple, with Myers apparently falling hard on his left wrist, though it appears to be his right wrist that has been giving him pain.

"My right hand came down and slapped the ground," Myers told Bill Chastain of MLB.com on Saturday. "It's a little cut up from where I hit the ground.

"It doesn't feel good. It's sore. It's definitely sore."

Myers, who's hitting .227/.313/.354 with five home runs and 25 RBI, missed Saturday's game and was spotted wearing a protective brace.

The news couldn't have come at a worse time for the reeling Rays, who have lost five straight.
