VIDEO: Benches clear after Manny Machado throws bat towards 3rd base
Tempers flared between the Baltimore Orioles and Oakland Athletics on Sunday after Manny Machado flung his bat towards third base, nearly hitting Alberto Callaspo.
It was the second incident in three days involving Machado, who, on Friday, threw his helmet in the direction of Josh Donaldson after taking exception to a hard tag by the Athletics third baseman.
Machado and Athletics reliever Fernando Abad were both ejected from Sunday's game following the on-field scuffle, and the Athletics went on to win the game 11-1.

"The bat slipped out of my hands," Machado said afterwards, via Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. "Trying to make contact and the umpire thought it was intentional and he tossed me at that point."
Oakland catcher Derek Norris, who left the game in the sixth inning after getting hit on a backswing, had some strong words for Machado, telling reporters: "What he's doing is a disgrace to baseball."
